(Oakdale,
CA) – Janice Keating announced today that she has received yet another
endorsement in her bid for the 25th Assembly District – that of Oakdale
Councilmember Tom Dunlop. His support comes announced at the heels
of an impressive early endorsement by National Tax Limitation Committee
President Lew Uhler, along with several local elected leaders.
“Janice
Keating knows that we have to help small businesses create jobs and
expand, and that means lower taxes, not higher taxes,” said Councilmember
Dunlop. “Janice will stand up for small business owners, and she won’t
back down to pressure on taxes and higher spending. Right now, our
state is in dire condition, and we need tax fighters like Janice Keating
who are willing to stand their ground.”
Councilman
Dunlop is a respected member of the Oakdale community, and he joins
a long list of endorsers for Janice Keating’s Assembly run, including
Modesto Mayor Jim Ridenour, Modesto Councilman Dave Geer, Waterford
Councilmembers Ken Krause and Michael Van Winkle, and Ceres Councilman
Guillermo Ochoa, among dozens of others.
Janice
Keating was first elected to the Modesto City Council in 2001, where
she utilized her strong fundraising and broad-based grassroots effort
that unseated an incumbent. She has chaired the city’s Finance and
Economic Development Committees and served as the Vice-Chair of the
Audit Committee. Janice has also served as a member of the Stanislaus
Council of Governments, the Modesto Irrigation District Domestic Water
Policy Board, and the Stanislaus County Family Justice Center Steering
Committee, among others.
In 2004,
Janice was honored in the state capitol as Woman of the Year from
the 25th Assembly District, named by then Assemblyman Dave Cogdill.
In 2006, Janice ran for the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors,
raising over $200,000 in a high profile campaign and coming within
just twenty votes of defeating then State Senator Dick Monteith in
a runoff election.
