(Ceres,
CA) -Today, Ceres Vice Mayor Ken Lane announced his support for conservative
Republican Janice Keating in the open 25th Assembly District, continuing
a strong run of local endorsements for the popular former Modesto
councilwoman.
"Janice
will fight for local governments, and that's essential as the state
faces another huge budget deficit," said Vice Mayor Lane. "We need
Sacramento to stop grabbing tax revenues to balance the state budget,
and Janice will be our advocate to ensure our local tax dollars stay
here, locally. Janice Keating is my choice for Assembly, and I believe
that she stands up for us."
First
elected in 2009, Vice Mayor Ken Lane has been an important voice for
fiscal accountability in Ceres. He joins Lew Uhler, President of the
National Tax Limitation Committee, along with Modesto Mayor Jim Ridenour
and a host of local elected leaders supporting Janice Keating for
Assembly. Janice Keating was first elected to the Modesto City Council
in 2001, where she utilized her strong fundraising and broad-based
grassroots effort to unseat an incumbent. She has chaired the city's
Finance and Economic Development Committees and served as the Vice-Chair
of the Audit Committee.
Janice
has also served as a member of the Stanislaus Council of Governments,
the Modesto Irrigation District Domestic Water Policy Board, and the
Stanislaus County Family Justice Center Steering Committee, among
others.
In 2004, Janice was honored in the state capitol as Woman of the Year
from the 25th Assembly District, named by then Assemblyman Dave Cogdill.
