(Ceres,
CA) – Republican former Modesto Councilwoman Janice Keating continues
to consolidate GOP support in her bid for the 25th Assembly District
as she received today the endorsement of Ceres Councilmember Guillermo
Ochoa, who adds his name to a growing list of Keating supporters.
“California
has a desperate need for financial accountability right now,” said
Councilmember Ochoa. “Janice Keating understands that, and just as
important, she knows how to bring accountability to government and
cut wasteful spending. She’s done that on the Modesto Audit and Finance
committees. That’s why I trust her with my endorsement.”
Councilmember
Ochoa was first elected in 2007. He is a successful entrepreneur and
businessman, who currently owns and manages Garcia’s Market.
Janice
Keating was first elected to the Modesto City Council in 2001, where
she utilized her strong fundraising and broad-based grassroots effort
to unseat an incumbent. She has chaired the city’s Finance and Economic
Development Committees and served as the Vice-Chair of the Audit Committee.
Janice has also served as a member of the Stanislaus Council of Governments,
the Modesto Irrigation District Domestic Water Policy Board, and the
Stanislaus County Family Justice Center Steering Committee, among
others.
In 2004,
Janice was honored in the state capitol as Woman of the Year from
the 25th Assembly District, named by then Assemblyman Dave Cogdill.
In 2006, Janice ran for the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors,
raising over $200,000 in a high profile campaign and coming within
just twenty votes of defeating then State Senator Dick Monteith in
a runoff election.
