(Modesto,
CA) -25th Assembly District Republican front-runner Janice Keating
gained a major endorsement today from National Tax Limitation Committee
President Lew Uhler. Uhler adds his name to a growing list of taxpayer
advocates, Republican activists, and local business leaders supporting
Keating.
“The Scott Brown victory in Massachusetts is the clearest signal yet
that voters are tired of big spenders and huge government debt,” said
Lew Uhler. “Janice Keating is exactly the type of candidate that voters
want in office. She has fought to cut wasteful spending and streamline
government, and she has stood up against higher taxes. Janice Keating
has also been one of the Central Valley’s strongest voices against
harmful regulations like AB 32, and she has worked handin- hand with
small business owners to help them survive the economic downturn.
She’s the real deal and I am proud to support her.”
The
National Tax Limitation Committee is one of California’s oldest and
largest taxpayer organizations. Lew Uhler is widely recognized as
a national leader among taxpayer groups and as a trusted source for
pro-taxpayer information.
Janice
Keating was first elected to the Modesto City Council in 2001, where
she utilized her strong fundraising and broad-based grassroots effort
that unseated an incumbent. She has chaired the City’s Finance and
Economic Development Committees and served as the Vice-Chair of the
Audit Committee. Janice has also served as a member of the Stanislaus
Council of Governments, the Modesto Irrigation District Domestic Water
Policy Board, and the Stanislaus County Family Justice Center Steering
Committee, among others.
In
2004, Janice was honored in the state capitol as Woman of the Year
from the 25th Assembly District, named by then Assemblyman Dave Cogdill.
In 2006, Janice ran for the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors,
raising over $200,000 in a high profile campaign and coming within
just twenty votes of defeating former State Senator Dick Monteith
in a runoff election.
